BIOGRAPHY Home ^

bio_newTo put your trust in something doesn’t necessarily mean that you want to shout it all over the town square. It means that you intrinsically believe it, and that’s enough.
At least it should be. In a time when the loudest voice attracts the most attention Glen Scott pushes the envelope and sends the message of soul back to its origin. On Glen Scott’s album “TTD” he puts himself center stage once more and for a greater reason than ever, as a gift from a father to his two daughters; an instruction manual on how to view the world as a place where love still reigns, if you only look a little closer.

In view of Glen Scott’s background it is inconceivable that he could have been anything other than a musician. For Scott has had music coursing through his veins ever since he started attending his father’s church in London.Yet, he has taken his time, learning his trade, building up a collection of credits that included playing the organ and drums in church at the age of nine until now. He has become one of the most respected and in-demand session musicians and arrangers around working with songwriters and artists such as James Morrison, Ron Sexsmith, Craig David, Marc Amond (Soft Cell) and Eric Bibb among others.  And artistically, he has come to establish a style that in a very personal way is both upbeat and spiritually soothing.

With ”TTD” he has developed an approach that reflects not only his spiritual pov but also acknowledges the great traditions of R&B and Soul as pioneered by stylists such as James Brown,
Funkadelic (interestingly the first record Scott bought was One Nation Under A Groove),Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder. Yet the Scott style is modern and upbeat —think Prince or John Legend —with his lyrics reflecting a mood of optimism that has begun to emerge since Obama’s move into the White House.
“My Prayer” possesses a gentle insidious groove that is as langorous as it is insistent; “The Dawn”
espouses hope with a simple trust that sense will prevail; and “Personal Jesus” does exactly what it
says on the tin: an assertion of belief.

”Trust the Dawn” is a “Songs in the Key of Life” or a “What’s Going On” - for 2009.

Are we going to heaven?

...or are we losing our way?

Dear Glen,

Since the first time I heard your song "Heaven" being played on the radio on NPR Radio (USA) while driving in my car (I scribbled down your name just to spend hours searching for your CD), I have been following your work with sincere hope and optimism ever since. As a follower of Jesus Christ, it was no surprise to me when I heard that you grew up in your Dad's church being involved in music. When I listened to your music, I could feel the anointing you carry for worship in many of the songs, yet other songs conveyed a discord and confusion that stems from a "mixed" life that combines God & faith with the confusion that accompanies the sins and pleasures of the world.

I know that we do not know each other and my observations are only from a distance. But if the Spirit of God gives insight into all things, I believe that you are blocked in your career.

Blocked? Yes, blocked because you have not fully committed yourself in service to the Lord Jesus Christ and His Kingdom (whom you have been called to serve), yet also blocked by Satan because he is also able to bestow the false blessings of money, fame, status and power for those who serve his purposes. I believe he knows that God has touched your life and will only provide enough worldly encouragement to lead you along but not enough to give you a platform to many because you could shift in your fame and allegiences to bring Glory to God.

As Jesus described this situation in the book of Revelation by saying to the compromised church... "you are neither Hot nor Cold... I would rather that you choose one or the other, otherwise I will spit you from from my mouth." (paraphrase)

I do not mean to wound you in sharing this, because I am indeed an admirer of your work. Rather, I am sharing this in truth as a brother so that you might deal "in truth" with God and be set free to fulfill the purposes he has called you for in Christ Jesus.

Then, and only then, will be become a superstar!

He has given you extraordinary gifts and abilities, now you just need Him. If you listen to His voice, he will show you which side of the boat you need to cast your net from...

Remember, you must lose your life to find it! Yes, you risk losing what measure of help and support you have from the worldly music Biz if you come out fully for Jesus, but He will be with you. And you + God ='s a majority.

I will be praying for God to use you in a powerful way.

Sincerely,

Don Moorehead
(New Priest 1 Peter 2:9)

Phil 2: 12-16 "...continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.

Do everything without complaining or arguing, 15so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life."

Still think your the best clav player i've heard, and that was over 15 years ago, you did a gospel gig with you cousins nicki and gerry, andyou played hammond and clav with a wah pedal on it.. It was all over.

Stay blessed.
